Ghana international Antonie Semenyo admitted it was a dream come true to score the goal that won the 2026 FA Cup final for Manchester City.
The former Bournemouth player produced a brilliant backheel strike from Erling Haaland’s cross to give The Cityzens their 8th title in England’s Premier Cup competition.

Semenyo conjured up a moment of brilliance by despatching a stunning backheel flick in what was a hard-fought contest at Wembley. For Semenyo and City it was a second trophy in three months following hard on the heels of their Carabao Cup win in March.
“It feels surreal to be honest. I don’t even have words to describe it,” said Semenyo as quoted by Man City website.
“[In terms of the goal] It’s happened a couple of times in training! It happened perfectly today. It was behind me, as long as I got contact on it and it was towards goal, I was hoping it would go in.
“Everything happened so fast. I wanted to get into the box and make sure I’m a presence. It came straight to me and I just had to improvise as quickly as I can.
“I’m happy with the finish and grateful. It was good enough contact, timed perfectly and Sanchez couldn’t get there.”
Semenyo added: “As a kid I always wanted to play for the top teams, competing for trophies and shining. I’m grateful. I just had to keep working hard and you get your chance. I’ve never competed for trophies like this before. Everything is new to me.”
Semenyo ruled out FA Cup celebrations with Man City returning to league action against his former club. He said: “I don’t think there will be much celebrations tonight, it’s about getting ready for Tuesday.

“Just train the same way and hopefully results fall in our hands. So, we just have to pray it happens. I’m enjoying every day and enjoying all these trophies. Hopefully we can finish off the job by the end of the season.”
City will have to win their final two matches, including Tuesday’s duel away from home at Bournemouth and next Sunday’s home fixture against Aston Villa, to have any chance of claiming the title.
Semenyo now has 7 goals and an assist in 20 matches across all competitions for City since joining in January.
