The Malawi national team midfielder will lead the Lilongwe-based giants deputised by vice-captain Zebron Kalima and second vice-skipper Tatenda M’balaka.
The nine-time Super League/ FDH Bank Premiership champions unveiled the team’s new on-field leaders on Thursday, 23 April.
The captains are part of a 30-member squad Mgangira has entrusted with responsibility of reclaiming the Super League title they last laid their hands on in the 2024 season.
The coach has included Austin Yasin, Innocent Smart, Chikondi Likambale, and Precious Kupunda, all promoted from the reserve side.
The squad includes new arrivals Lameck Gamphani, Eric Atsigah, Christopher Mikuwa, Yankho Billiat, Lumbani Nyondo, Mally Kasongo, Christopher Gototo.
The new recruits will certainly compensate for the recent exit of players such as defender Maxwell Paipi, Innocent Shema, goalkeeper Pilirani Mapira, winger Duncan Nyoni, strikers Binwell Katinji and Stein Davie.
Affectionately called the Bankers, the club is the second most successful side in Malawi in terms of winning the league. Strikers have won nine league titles only behind FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ 18.
Mgangira has since maintained the backroom team from last season comprising Mapopa Kent Msukwa and Young Chimodzi Junior as his first and second assistants whilst Philip Nyasulu and Green Harawa remain as Goalkeepers and Strikers Coach respectively.
Strikers will kick off their campaign against Kamuzu Barracks FC at Champion Stadium in Dowa on the outskirts of Lilongwe.
