The honeymoon is over for Zimbabwe league champions Scottland FC after they suffered their first loss of the 2026 season on Sunday, 3 May 2026.
The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) defending champions slumped to a home 1-2 defeat to 2024 winners Simba Bhora FC at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
Scottland FC had a bright start to the game as Khama Billiat put them ahead for his sixth league goal of the season with a powerful shot in the ninth minute. However, Bhora responded in the second half. McCartney Nwaseb equalised in the 52nd minute before the visitors finally snatched the lead with Harisson Masin’s 82nd-minute goal.
The first loss in 10 Castle Lager PSL games, that includes four wins and five draws, leaves Norman Mapeza’s expensively-assembled charges in third place in the standings, five points adrift of leaders CAPS United.
The wheels seem to have come off the pacesetters, CAPS United, who also had a weekend to forget. They suffered a 2-1 loss to Bulawayo Chiefs FC in Harare on Saturday.
There was yet another upset on Sunday as Chicken Inn ended Dynamos’ unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory, while Ngezi Platinum Stars preserved their unbeaten record with a 1-0 victory over Manica Diamonds FC.
Benjani Mwaruwari’s Highlanders draw yet again
Still on Saturday, coach Benjani Mwaruwari chalked up his eighth draw in 10 matches, comprising just one win, after his Highlanders FC shared the spoils with Herentals College FC at one-all.
CAPS United are clinging to the summit of the table, just one point ahead of second-place HardRock FC and two in front of third-positioned Ngezi Platinum Stars after round 10 of matches played.
Down the table, MANICA Diamonds anchor the standings after collecting just two points from 10 assignments.
