Yan Diomande: RB Leipzig starlet draws interest of Premier League’s elite

Yan Diomande’s rapid rise to become one of European club football’s most intriguing prospects is reaching its apex, with the RB Leipzig star now under close examination from a couple of “blue blood” clubs in the English Premier League.

Less than two years ago, the Ivorian was playing high school football in the United States but a move to Spanish club Leganés paved the way for his ascension to become one of the Bundesliga’s top players. This season, he has 13 goals and 7 assists in 32 matches across all competitions.

And now it appears that the timing may be right for a transfer to one of the world’s elite clubs, with transfer experts publicizing the interest of Liverpool FC in particular. Interest is also reported from reigning European club champions Paris Saint-Germain as well as other top Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Liverpool early favorites to secure signature of Yan Diomande

Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg got the discussion going with his exclusive, revealing that the Reds see Diomande as a perfect replacement once club legend Mohamed Salah departs at the end of the ongoing season. The Ivorian’s natural skills make him a perfect candidate to occupy either wing in modern football’s preferred three-forward formations.

According to Plettenberg’s latest report, the interest from Liverpool is concrete and that RB Leipzig will demand over €100 million for the 19-year-old.

Diomande has also made a notable splash for his national team. After being brought into the XI of Ivory Coast national team coach Emerse Faé towards the end of a successful 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign for Les Éléphants, Diomande went on to be an important member of a young and talented Ivorian team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations where he scored one goal in five matches.

His outstanding performances this season in the Bundesliga are set to secure UEFA Champions League football for RB Leipzig next season. However, it appears more than likely that the wunderkind will be playing in the competition for a different club by that time.
