NBC Premier League: Moallin confident as Yanga target away victory at Dodoma Jiji

Young Africans SC interim head coach Abdi Hamid Moallin has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness ahead of their crucial NBC Premier League clash against Dodoma Jiji FC, insisting the team is fully focused on securing maximum points despite a demanding fixture schedule.

The league leaders will face Dodoma Jiji on Wednesday at Airtel Stadium in a match scheduled to kick off at 4:15 pm EAT, with Yanga aiming to maintain their unbeaten run and strengthen their push for the championship title.

Speaking before the encounter, Moallin admitted the short period between matches had forced the technical bench to prioritize player recovery and fitness, but said preparations had gone according to plan.

“We have prepared well. The gap between the previous match and this one is very short, so we had to do everything possible to ensure the players got enough time to rest and be ready for tomorrow’s match,” said Moallin.

“We expect another difficult game like the previous one, but I believe we are ready.”

The interim coach also predicted a highly competitive encounter against Dodoma Jiji, describing the hosts as a strong side capable of causing problems, especially at home.

“It will be a very competitive match against a good Dodoma Jiji team. I think the stadium conditions will help us a little because they are similar to the environment we are used to playing at KMC,” he explained.

“Despite the tough schedule, we know the job we have to do here and we have come for three points.”

Yanga head into the fixture in impressive form, sitting comfortably at the top of the league standings after 22 matches. The defending champions have recorded 16 wins and 6 draws while remaining unbeaten throughout the campaign.

The Jangwani giants have also been dominant defensively and offensively, scoring 50 goals and conceding only five, statistics that underline their strength as they edge closer to another title.

However, pressure continues to come from rivals Simba SC, who remain five points behind in the title race. As a result, Moallin emphasized the importance of every remaining fixture this season.

“Every match from now until the end of the season is very important for us. The technical bench, players and club leadership are all working hard to ensure we get three points in every game,” he said.

The coach also provided an update on squad fitness ahead of the encounter, revealing that most players are available for selection.

“All players are safe and ready for the match except Mohammed Hussein, who has started returning to training after injury. We will depend on the final assessment from the doctors to see if he will be ready to play tomorrow,” Moallin noted.

He added that the return of midfielder Mudathir, who had been serving a suspension, was another positive boost for the squad ahead of the busy run-in.

History favors Yanga going into the fixture, with the defending champions having won their last five meetings against Dodoma Jiji, including a 3-1 victory in the first-round meeting earlier this season.

Despite that record, Dodoma Jiji will be eager to produce an upset in front of their home supporters as they continue fighting to maintain their mid-table position in the league standings.
