The two clubs have developed a competitive rivalry in recent meetings. In the first round BK Pro League encounter this season, Al Hilal secured a convincing 2-0 victory over APR. However, APR managed to defeat Al Hilal 1-0 during the 2024 CECAFA Clubs Cup playoffs before suffering another defeat in 2025, losing 3-1.

APR FC head into today’s encounter determined to bounce back after a disappointing 1-1 draw against rivals Rayon Sports in their previous league outing. The military side will be eager to avoid repeating the mistakes made in that derby as they chase maximum points.

Despite the setback, APR’s recent league form has remained relatively solid, recording three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five BK Pro League matches.

Al Hilal, meanwhile, arrive full of confidence following a comfortable 2-0 victory against AS Kigali in their most recent fixture. The league leaders have also been impressive in recent weeks, winning four of their last five matches while drawing once.

Earlier in the day, Al Merrikh will face Etincelles FC in the early kickoff scheduled for 15:00 CAT at Kigali Pele Stadium.

Al Merrikh, currently third on the table with 55 points from 28 matches, remain firmly in contention for a top two finish and could pile pressure on APR with a positive result.

For Etincelles, who sit 16th with 27 points after 29 matches, today’s encounter carries huge importance in their fight against relegation as they desperately search for vital points.
